Spreadhouse cafe & bar is opening their doors for a socially engaging experience to enjoy a bedouin style dinner cooked by a recently resettled "chef-ugee" during the Islamic month of Ramadan. The experience is co-hosted by Komeeda, Mazeish Grill, & SpreadHouse Cafe and in collaboration with supportive partners to be announced.
The Displaced Kitchen #eatkomeeda series is a campaign aimed to bring together a collective of people to hear a perspective of a recently resettled refugee. We will feature three different refugees to share their story with us by ways of an unorthodox Ramadan iftar dinner (breaking of the fast). Our "Chef-ugee" hosts left various conflict zones for safety, and have resettled here in New York City. All of whom experienced hardship to survive, and hardship acclimating into our society, the Displaced Kitchens is aimed to bridge the gap through food by providing them an outlet to share their journey, and their cuisine with our Kommunity. --- Photo Credit: Luc Kordas / Metro NY
