About

The new color-pop of Fort Greene, Samui has raised the bar set for restaurant interior design and was just named by Thrillist as one of the city’s top Thai eateries. Built from scratch by a dynamic duo A Napadol and her husband Hani Albader, this stunner brings much needed flair to the Fort Greene/Navy Yard area of Brooklyn. With eclectic Thai dishes that match the beauty of the spacious eatery, Chef-Owner Napadol brings her innovative touch to southeast Asian cuisine, while maintaining the traditional elements of the aromatic and flavorful cuisine. Samui welcomes everyone to enjoy savor the unique ambiance, feel good beats (thanks to music producer Albader) and delectable bites.

A. Napadol

The chef and an owner of this Southeast Asian restaurant goes by the name A Napadol. She grew up working with her grandmother, who had a restaurant in her northeastern Thailand home, and is now cooking again after careers in real estate and as a jewelry designer. A's love of food developed as a child in Thailand, which centered on cooking for her grandmother’s home-based eatery. Over the years, A re-imagined the recipes first learned as a child to infuse them with a contemporary flair incorporating European influences that are an essential to Thai cuisine. That imagination has become a reality, with an interpretive menu stretching through categories like small plates, sliders, soups, noodles, curries and big plates, all touching on tradition with the inevitable papaya salad and pad Thai, but adds new ideas, not strictly Thai, including black potato fritters, crispy smelts, a mussel pancake and grilled black cod in a miso-jalapeño marinade.
