Displaced Dinners

Each experience will feature a five-course menu reflective of the "chef-ugee's" native land. Taste the flavors of our hosts' native cuisine, the dishes that brings them back to their memories of calm and comfort. As they share their most intimate and vivid stories of their journey to America, engage with you chef-ugee host, fellow curious eaters, and financially support our hosts' resettlement efforts to alleviate their struggles.

Salata Jarjeer
Arugula salad with mushrooms and onions tossed with a pomegranate molasses dressing
Batata Harra
Pan fried seasoned Cubed Potatoes with Cilantro and Garlic
Za'atar Sprouts
Flash fried brussels sprouts tossed with za'atar, sumac, and cashew
Bedouin Chicken
slow-cooked, pulled chicken in a traditional broth served over red rice topped with pita crisps, walnuts and tahini yogurt
Zalatimo Baklava à la Mode
Cashew stuffed baklava with a side of ice cream from the recipe book of the original baklava makers of Jerusalem

Shopkeepers Gallery is an interactive showroom sought to inspire and share timeless, considerate products for the modern yet classic Individual. Displaced Dinners was first launched in NYC by Nasser and has helped raised $18k+ for refugees. Laila & Johnny are excited to be leading the campaign in DC and have been active with refugee issues since 2013 in the DC area. Come share a home-cooked meal, hear their stories, and support them in their efforts to rebuild their lives.
